What Is RAM?

RAM (Random Access Memory) is the memory in which a computer temporarily holds the programs and data it needs while running. The operating system and applications keep the data they are actively using in RAM for fast access. Insufficient RAM can reduce system performance, but more RAM does not always mean higher speed. The appropriate RAM capacity for an industrial PC should be determined by the applications running at the same time, the amount of data and the operating system's requirements.
