What Is TPM? Why Is It Important in Industrial Computers?
TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is a special security component used to support a computer's security functions. It can be used for operations such as protecting encryption keys and verifying system integrity.
TPM can be important, especially in Windows-based systems, for device security and for supporting certain security features.
In industrial computers, TPM can contribute to the following needs:
- Safer storage of encryption keys
- Use of supported disk encryption solutions such as BitLocker
- Support for secure boot and system integrity mechanisms
- Compliance with corporate information security policies
Having a TPM does not by itself make a computer completely secure. Operating system configuration, updates, access management and network security are also important.
When choosing an industrial PC, check whether a TPM is present, its version, operating system support and compatibility with the organization's security requirements.
